LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
When we started pulling together ideas for how we wanted our first printed experience of Surf Collective to feel we quickly realized that what was taking shape was a much needed step forward from where we have historically been. As we’ve worked, the concept for Surf Collective.com and the Surf Collective Magazine have gone through some changes, timely considering the title of this issue. We’re settling into a place that I think you’ll really enjoy.
In this issue of Surf Collective Magazine you’ll find a few examples of new beginnings. We interview Mick Coogan, lead singer of the band Brett, who packed up everything and moved west to LA. Coogan talks about how the band is finding newness in their music ahead of the release of their second EP later this summer. Artist Sarah Reynolds, whos recent work is an amazing fusion of charcoal and paper, depicts objects that seem as though they are in a state of metamorphosis. For our men’s fashion story we take a look at a few early summer style staples in WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED. And lastly, in our women’s fashion stories we look at what’s IN BLOOM in lovely London, and travel to Africa too, shooting at an intoxicating location in CAPE TOWN.
We hope you enjoy this new beginning for Surf Collective and we look forward to bringing you more throughout the summer. Here’s to new beginnings.
