This green smoothie is a great way to start any day. With each glass packed with benefits, from the skin-nourishment in the avocado, to the great protein found in the hulled hemp seeds. This green gem will keep your energy up, while acting as an anti-inflammatory (turmeric, black pepper and ginger) and pulling toxins and heavy metals from your body (cilantro). Keeping you a lean, mean, healthy machine.
This recipe serves 2-3.
Ingredients:
1/2 c. cilantro, stems included
1 c. kale
1 c. unsweetened coconut milk
1/2 to 1 c. coconut water
Juice of 1 lime
1 c. chopped pineapple
1 banana
1/2 avocado
1 1/2 Tbsp. hulled hemp seeds
1/2 tsp. ground turmeric
1/2 tsp. grated fresh ginger
Dash of sea salt
Dash of pepper
Handful of ice cubes
Start your engines:
In a high-powered blender blend the kale, cilantro, hemp seeds, coconut milk, ½ c. coconut water and lime juice until smooth. Add the remaining ingredients and blend on high until desired smoothness is achieved. Add a handful of ice cubes blending on medium, then high until smooth. This will chill the smoothie. If you prefer a thinner smoothie, add another ½ c. coconut water gradually until you get your desired texture.
