When I dropped into Tommy Guns for the first time, almost three years ago, I knew that it was what I had been looking for for quite some time. I met the handlebar-mustache wearing founder, Russell Manley, and knew I would be a customer for life. It’s a place that I can sit back with a cold beer in the summer or coffee in the winter, read the paper and chat with the crew while they masterfully cut and shave the week away. Russell, who started out cutting in Sussex, ended up opening several locations in London before bringing his talent and distinctive style, to NYC. The decor, a modern take on the roaring 20’s, is made up of a healthy collection of antique ephemera, restored barbershop chairs from the twenties (shipped over from London), amazing nickle and glass cabinets, mirrors, and maybe the sharpest cash register I have ever seen (Circa 1900).
The space exudes cool, which is why you will find some of the best known actors, models and rock stars getting their locks cut here. After one visit it is certainly not hard to understand why.

Be sure to mention SURF COLLECTIVE NYC when you head over for your cut and you’ll get a free bottle of their Sage & Basil Shampoo.

Ladies try the “Clever Curls & Waves Texture Spray” for the fresh off the beach look that we all love. Just spray damp hair and crunch while it dries and you’re done.

Men, just use their “Texturing Paste”, it is the best you will ever use. Can be used in dry hair for a more bed head look or on damp hair for a dapper look that will last all night.
